Our last full day at Lake Cachuma included a visit to the Lake Cachuma Nature Center which is cool. There are several displays on the different plants and wildlife in the area. They even have a full size Grizzly Bear skin wth the head intact. That sucker is huge. We also went to the beach and piers at Santa Barbara-usual cool ocean stuff.
On the way back to the lake we made a detour and followed the old stagecoach route that ran from Santa Barbara to Lompoc. The Cold Springs Tavern was the midday stop for the stage and is still there today. This old route was the main highway until the Cold Springs Arches Bridge was built in 1963. We stopped for a drink.
We went back to the trailer ready to move on. Enjoyed this whole area. We would come back again.
